In our “Meet the Members” series, we interview our team members so you can get to know the people behind Labforward. Starting off the series is Melanie, our Customer Success Manager for Labfolder!
Meet the Members: Melanie
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Melanie and I come from a small village in Thüringen in the centre of Germany, where I grew up in a beautiful area of woods and hills (close to the “Harz”) together with my older sister. After school, I moved to Würzburg to study Biomedicine. There, I entered the world of science and really enjoyed everything that came along with it like working on interesting projects, meeting people from all over the world, travelling to conferences and always learning something new. After a research stay in Sweden, doing a PhD in Göttingen and then one Postdoc in Mexico, I joined Labforward to use my experience in the laboratory in another context.
In my free time, you’ll find me on my yoga mat, riding the bike, hanging out with friends, exploring new places, or trying to do something “creative” such as embroidery or painting. I’m always doing something, so much that some would call me restless!
What is your favourite food and why?
Whole grain bread with avocado & fried egg. It’s delicious, healthy, and keeps me full for many hours.
Why did you join Labforward?
After 8 years in basic research, I felt it was time for me to do something different. I began searching for a role with new challenges and new things I could learn. Working in a laboratory can sometimes be quite monotonous in my experience as there is often not much interaction with other people. Yet, I like to interact with others and to help people as much as possible and that was why I was attracted to the position as a Customer Success Manager at Labforward. I really like the product, love interacting with scientists and know it’s value, given my background in science. Also, I very much enjoy the international atmosphere here and the fact that people come from a range of professional backgrounds.
What is your main role?
What are your main roles at Labforward?
Working for the Customer Success team, my main role is to support the scientists that have decided to use Labfolder. I’m responsible for the onboarding process to ensure that the implementation of our ELN runs smoothly for everyone. It’s my responsibility to build long-lasting relationships with our customers, making sure that they feel well supported and achieve their goals. I also participate in the improvement of our product by being the voice of the customer in the team.
What excites you about your job?
What excites you about working for Labforward?
My favourite aspect of my role at Labforward is being in contact with so many different scientists worldwide. Having worked in research and development, I know the pain points of data management in laboratories. Helping others make their day-to-day life in research easier is really enjoyable and rewarding. I’m also looking forward to being part of the widespread digitisation of laboratories which will become more and more important in the future.
